Hi, I’m Carla — the maker behind Mudcat Clay. In February 2025, I officially launched Mudcat Clay after nearly five years of creating polymer clay jewelry as a hobby. What started as a creative outlet quickly grew into a passion for crafting handmade, high-quality, and thoughtfully designed pieces to share with my friends, family, and community.

Proudly based in Starkville, Mudcat Clay is also a licensed vendor of Mississippi State University, offering Mississippi State–inspired designs perfect for game days and gifting. Every purchase supports a small, family-run business and reflects a passion for creativity, quality, and community.

Our mission is simple — to make beautiful, fun jewelry that adds a little something special to your day. Every piece is made with care, creativity, and a whole lot of love right here in Starkville, Mississippi.

The Design Process

At Mudcat Clay, inspiration is drawn from the seasons and events in our lives. Incorporating beautiful colors, unique and fun designs, and the joy of everyday moments is what makes Mudcat Clay jewelry special. Each piece begins with high-quality polymer clay that is mixed to make the perfect color and then carefully shaped either by hand or with the use of a clay cutter. Afterwards, each item is baked for approximately one hour to ensure a strong, durable product. Once baked, every item is sanded to ensure a smooth, beautiful finish. Resin is applied to some items. Finally, we assemble all jewelry and accessories with hypoallergenic hardware. Polymer clay jewelry is very lightweight, pliable, and great for sensitive skin.
